Hong Kong Chordophonia 5th Anniversary Concert “The World in Harmony”

In this concert we celebrate Chordophonia’s 5th Anniversary with the theme “The World in Harmony”. Apart from a special folk concerto that our conductor Johnson will be playing with the orchestra, the programme will contain music that has rich folk elements, not to mention the commissioned original compositions by our Resident Composers Hippocrates, James and Vincent! Also, familiar masterpieces like Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence as a special reprise of Chordo's very first Premiere Concert 4 years ago! Another major feature is that this year we will partly incorporate multimedia elements with dancers, visual artists and projected videos in our performance!

Rotary Club of Hong Kong South titled sponsored the 2014 concert of "Hong Kong Chordophonia” which played a piece of biodiversity theme music. The result was a resounding success and very encouraging. Given the successful partnership, "Rotary International District 3450 Preserve Planet Earth Committee" decided to fully support "Hong Kong Chordophonia" to stage the Rotary 2015 concert "Gifts of Nature".
The concert will depict the beauty of nature and its creatures aiming at encouraging the public to admire, cherish and protect Nature. Just like the Rotary’s dedication to promote and support sustainability. Chordophonia believes that music is Nature’s gift for mankind and a cultural treasure to be preserved, developed and promoted.

"British Delights"

Presented by Hong Kong Chordophonia, the concert adheres to the recent trend for British cultures in Hong Kong. Through a wide range of instrumentation (not limited to strings) and guest performers, the audience is able to enjoy some elegant and sincere British music. Selecting from masterpieces by various British composers of different eras, the music is rich with strings. The concert is prepared and organised entirely by a group of young and enthusiastic musicians, showing their will and passion to pursue ambitious musical dreams despite their different career professions.

"Voyage"

Modern technologies nowadays allow us to travel around the globe with just a move at our fingertips. But how about people in the past? As it would be a big hassle for them to travel to faraway places, what kinds of affection did they have? This concert is about "voyage", in which it includes classical and contemporary string music, emphasising the different affections that composers had during or after their travelling. It gives audience an insight to what composers had been thinking, expressed via their music. The word "voyage" also implies music from different nationalities included in this concert. The original composition "Voyage", composed by Hok Kiu Johnson Leung, composer and conductor of Hong Kong Chordophonia, will be world premiered in this special occasion.
